In 1957 Christopher Morley died leaving a legacy of literature, poetry, and short stories for all to read on Long Island and all over the world. It was four years later in 1961 that the Christopher Morley Knothole Association was formed in an effort to save his cabin in Roslyn Estates called "The Knothole".
In 1966, nine years after Morley’s death, the Christopher Morley Knothole Association, the writer’s friends and neighbors had the Knothole transferred to one of Nassau County’s parks in Roslyn-North Hills, subsequently named Christopher Morley Park.
Today, the CMKA keeps the spirit of Morley alive by conducting reading contests with area high schools, and coordinating special events at the Knothole.
